Located in Poquonnok Plains Park, off Fort Hill Raod in Groton, this playground is absolutely massive and offers a lot of choices – and fun – for little kids.
Whether your child enjoys slides, swings, bridges, or playing in the sand, this fun Connecticut playground has it all.
We went with our children, ages 2, 4, and 6. Overall, it was a great day and we felt it was definitely worth the trip!
Pros and cons of this Groton Playground
If you are considering visiting the Tercentennial Playground in Groton, CT, there are some things to consider before your trip.
While this playground is absolutely huge and is filled with fun things to do, it’s always best to have all the information before you go so everyone can have the best afternoon possible.
Here is what we liked and didn’t like about it.
Pros:
- realtively safe
- plenty of shaded places for adults to sit
- large main playscape
- several choices of playscapes
- great for ages 5 and under
Cons:
- very little shade on the playground
- trail from neighborhood leads to playground and isn’t visible from adult seating area
- not a lot of fun for kids over 5
What to bring with you to Tercentennial Legacy Playground
If you are planning a visit to this New London County playground, you essentially need 2 main things – sunscreen and water.
I can’t emphasize enough that, while there are shaded areas for sitting, there are no trees to provide shade for the playscapes.
If you have a toddler or preschooler, I definitely recommend this playground.
